Congressional Black Caucus Foundation & Freddie Mac Announce New Wealth Building Initiative

The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Student Homeownership Opportunity Program (SHOP) and Congressional Internship Program, with the generous support of Freddie Mac, have launched the 2004 CBCF Financial Freedom Challenge.

In an effort to promote financial literacy and responsibility at an early age, this initiative challenges the 2004 CBCF Summer Congressional Interns to save up to 40% of their stipend. As housing is included in the benefits of working as a CBCF Congressional Intern, these college students are in a unique position to save more of their money than most working professionals.

By taking this step toward financial well-being, all interns who reach the target savings will receive a $100 prize, courtesy of Freddie Mac, and recognition on CBCF’s website. CBCF would like to especially thank Virgil Griffin of Freddie Mac for agreeing to sponsor the prizes. Freddie Mac’s support of the CBCF Financial Freedom Challenge, as well as their continued support of other vital CBCF programs, contributes to the success of this organization.

CBCF continues to work to engage and advance the next generation of leaders.
