The AT&T Foundation Donates $75,000 to CBCF
Leadership Institute
The AT&T Foundation recently presented a $75,000 grant to the Congressional
Black Caucus Foundation . Dr. Don I. Tharpe, CBCF’s president and
CEO, accepted the grant from Marie Long, a representative from the AT&T
Foundation. The donation will support the CBCF Leadership Institute and
its programs.
The AT&T Foundation is the founding sponsor for CBCF’s Leadership
Institute. Since 2000, the philanthropic arm of AT&T Corp. has contributed
$635,000 to the CBCF to implement programs that educate future leaders
through internships, fellowships, and the Emerging Leaders Public Service
Series Seminar.
“Students and young professionals interested in public service
careers will gain critical leadership skills through CBCF’s many
programs,” said Marie Long, AT&T Vice President of Constituency
Relations and President of the AT&T Foundation. “AT&T welcomes
the opportunity to invest in these future leaders because they are our
future.”
The AT&T Foundation’s mission is to invest globally in projects
that are at the intersection of community needs with emphasis placed on
programs that serve the needs of people in communities where AT&T
has a significant business presence. The CBCF’s mission is to serve
as the non-partisan policy-oriented catalyst that educates future leaders
and promotes collaboration among legislators, business leaders, minority-focused
organizational leaders, and organized labor to effect positive and sustainable
change in the African American community.
