CBC CHAIR
U.S. Rep. Barbara Lee is a member of the House Appropriations Committee, where she serves on the Labor, Health and Human Services, Education Subcommittee, the Foreign Operations Subcommittee and is vice chairwoman of the Legislative Branch Subcommittee. She is the co-chairwoman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and a senior Democratic Whip. She also serves as Chair of the CBC Task Force on Global HIV/AIDS and Co-Chair of the CBC Haiti Task Force. Rep. Lee is the fifth woman to chair the CBC and is in her seventh congressional term. Rep. Lee has served as member of the Caucus’ leadership for the past six years, first as a whip and then as first vice chair.
CBC FIRST VICE-CHAIR
U.S. Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II is a member of the Committee on Financial Services and the House Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming. Rep. Cleaver also is a member on the Subcommittee on Housing and Community Opportunity and the Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit. Rep. Cleaver is serving his third term in Congress. He was first elected to public office in 1979, and elected mayor of Kansas City in 1991.
CBC SECOND VICE-CHAIR
Del. Donna M. Christensen is a member on the Committee on Natural Resources and Homeland Security. She also is a member of the Subcommittees on Insular Affairs; National Parks, Forests and Public Lands; Emerging Threats, Cybersecurity, and Science and Technology; and Emergency Communications, Preparedness, and Response. Del. Christensen chairs the Congressional Black Caucus’ Health Braintrust. Del. Christensen has been a member of Congress since 1997.
CBC SECRETARY
U.S. Rep. G. K. Butterfield is a member of the Committee on Energy and Commerce. In addition, he is vice-chair of the Subcommittee on Energy and Air Quality. He is also a member of the Subcommittees on Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection and Environment and Hazardous Materials. Rep. Butterfield also serves as a Chief Deputy Whip. Rep. Butterfield was elected to Congress in 2004.
CBC WHIP
U.S. Rep. Yvette Clarke is a member of the Committees on Education and Labor; Homeland Security; and Small Business. She also sits on the Subcommittees on Healthy Families and Communities; Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions; Transportation and Infrastructure Protection; Management Investigation and Oversight; Contracting and Technology; and Rural and Urban Entrepreneurship. Rep. Clarke was elected to Congress in 2007.
