WASHINGTON – The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Inc. (CBCF) announced today registration is open for its 2021 Virtual Annual Legislative Conference (ALC), presented by Toyota. This year marks the 50th anniversary of this policy convening and the 50th anniversary of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), the largest class of the CBC to date. The event, with lead sponsors including Amazon, Toyota, The Coca-Cola Company, and Procter & Gamble, will be held via an interactive virtual platform on September 12 – 17 and registration for programming will be provided at no cost. Registration can be completed at cbcfinc.org/alc.

Speakers and special guests slated to participate in ALC 50 include: Congressional Black Caucus Chairwoman, Congresswoman Joyce Beatty; CBCF Board Chairwoman and Global Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer at The Coca-Cola Company, Lori George Billingsley; Poor People’s Campaign Co-Chair, Rev. William Barber; Principal and CEO of Impact Strategies, Angela Rye; Founder, Black Future Labs, Alicia Garza and more.

U.S. Representatives Anthony Brown (Maryland) and Lisa Blunt Rochester (Delaware) will serve as honorary co-chairs for ALC 50. This year’s ALC theme, “Black Excellence Unparalleled: Pressing Onward in Power,” represents the charge for 2021 and beyond to remain committed to uplifting, empowering, and mobilizing Black communities.

“The CBC has served as the Conscience of the Congress over its remarkable 50-year legacy. It Is precisely this legacy that enables, guides and equips us with the unique perspective on the adversities we face as we not only survive but thrive in 2021,” said Tonya Veasey, CBCF president and CEO. “2021 has been a year of both reflection and forward-thinking action and we are compelled to press onward in power.”

“This year we honor the founders of the Congressional Black Caucus and the 50-year indelible impact this powerful group has had in the halls of Congress and around our country, “said Congressman Anthony Brown. “The mission continues, and we press on toward equity and justice in all aspects of life. At this critical moment policymakers, thought leaders, celebrities, community organizers, activists and more are once again coming together to take action on the most pressing issues for Black Americans.”

“Black Americans continue to fight a double pandemic,” said Congresswoman Lisa Blunt Rochester. “The Annual Legislative Conference is a place where those engaged in our collective well-being come together to not only discuss but to activate progress. We invite everyone to join in this convening, as the founders of the Congressional Black Caucus realized 50 years ago, there is strength in working together.”

The Annual Legislative Conference (ALC) is CBCF’s leading public policy convening on issues impacting African Americans.  ALC 50, the second Annual Legislative Conference held in a virtual format, will reach, engage, educate, and mobilize an even larger portion of the global Black community.

ALC 50 will include more than 30 issue forums and brain trusts with Congressional Black Caucus members serving as honorary session hosts; an Emerging Leaders Series; celebrity entertainment; and the virtual Black Party. CBCF signature events include the Day of Healing program and the Phoenix Awards ceremony.
