POSITION SUMMARY

The Development Assistant, under the direction of the Senior Vice President, will primarily be responsible for performing administrative duties related to fundraising, endowment administration, and grants. Additionally, he or she will gain experience in strategic fundraising and stewardship to increase the capacity of our growing organization.

  • Internal Relationships:  Close coordination with the Resource Development, Marketing & Communications, and Strategic Events.
  • External Relationships: Sponsors and Consultants

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

Endowment Administration:

  • Assist in the management of the organization’s endowment fund.
  • Track and record endowment fund activity, including contributions, disbursements, and investment performance.
  • Prepare reports on the endowment fund’s financial health and performance.
  • Work with financial institutions and investment advisors to ensure compliance with endowment policies and procedures.

Administrative Support:

  • Provide administrative support to the Development team, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and handling correspondence.
  • Assist in the preparation of fundraising materials, such as proposals, presentations, and reports.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of sponsor information, gift acknowledgments, and payments.
  • Coordinate sponsor recognition events and activities.

Fundraising:

  • Assist with fundraising campaigns, including sponsor research, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Prepare sponsor acknowledgment letters and other correspondence.
  • Assist with event planning and execution, including volunteer coordination and logistics.
  • Provide support for grant writing and reporting.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR ACCURACY/ACCOUNTABILITY

The Incumbent must communicate with stakeholders (internal and external) on a national and local level to positively influence the effectiveness of CBCF in achieving its objectives. The Development Assistant must follow and adhere to federal, state, and local ethics laws, as well as CBCF policies governing conduct, in addition to performing their duties in an ethical, professional, and objective manner.

SPECIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge: Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, or related field, with a minimum of 1-2 years of administrative or related work experience desired. Experience with resource development is a plus.
  • Skills and Abilities: 
    • Prior office/administrative experience and strong organizational skills are required.
    • Excellent written and oral communications skills in professional settings are required.
    • Demonstrated ability to exercise excellent judgment, diplomacy, confidentiality and sensitivity to a range of constituents
    • Ability to synthesize information from different sources and present information in a variety of formats for different audiences.
    • Ability to work well under pressure and with minimal supervision, strong attention to detail, manage multiple priorities and multiple projects under tight deadlines.
    • Ability to work well independently or as a team player within and across departments.
    • Ability to be flexible in a dynamic work environment.
    • Experience with fundraising software (Raiser’s Edge) is plus
  • Computer and Technical Proficiencies: Highly proficient skills in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and overall aptitude for technology and cloud-based software are required.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines, ability to work evening and weekend events and/or off-hours as needed. Some light travel may be required. Must work well under pressure and be able to manage simultaneous priorities and deliverables.
