Forty students will learn Chinese culture and interact with China leaders in science and technology
WASHINGTON—This summer, 40 college students are getting prepared for an exciting and enriching time in China. They will participate in the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Incorporated (CBCF) Emerging Leaders: US-China Study Abroad Delegation, which is sponsored by Bank of America, Dell, Inc. and PepsiCo. Over the course of two weeks, the group will visit Beijing, Hangzhou and Shanghai and study Chinese history, Mandarin, business and politics.
“The CBCF is committed to providing students with a global perspective.” Said A. Shuanise Washington, president and chief executive officer of the CBCF. “The China study abroad program will allow our students to see the educational and career opportunities that are available to them internationally.
“We appreciate Bank of America, Dell, Inc. and PepsiCo’s support of this great initiative to globalize black youth.” Said Rep. Chaka Fattah, board chairman of the CBCF. “We are excited for our students. They have an amazing opportunity to learn and experience a whole new world.”
The China-U.S. Exchange Foundation (CUSEF) organized and administered the program in collaboration with the CBCF. Students will tour the Great Wall and the Forbidden City in Beijing and participate in lectures and workshops about China’s economy, education system, art, and history, and US-China relations.
