Area of Discipline: Energy

Dunni Oni is a proud native of the gorgeous Prince George’s County, Maryland. She is a recent graduate of George Mason University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice. During her academic journey, she served as a graduate assistant at the Center for Culture, Equity, and Empowerment, where she developed and delivered programming focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as identity development and social justice. Dunni also assisted with student advising and conducted research and benchmarking activities.

A dedicated advocate for education and criminal justice reform, Dunni has engaged in various forms of community service and activism, including her position as a board member of the Prince George’s County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. Her commitment to advocacy is further exemplified through her work with organizations like Life After Release, a Black woman-led initiative working to abolish the criminal legal system and promote community-based safety alternatives. Dunni also does work with Upward Bound- University of Maryland, a program that supports high school students from low-income families in preparing for higher education.

As Dunni is an alumnus of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Summer 2023 Congressional Internship program, it came as no surprise that she returned to the CBCF, this time as an energy fellow. Upon completion of her fellowship, Dunni plans to attend Howard University School of Law to earn her JD, with the goal of becoming a civil and human rights attorney and potentially exploring a career in public office. Dunni is 1st Vice-President of the CBCF’s Alumni Network Council and is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
